Child Saftey Seat Law Effective 01/01/12

Friday, January 13th, 2012

A new measure effective Jan. 1 mandates car seats for children until they are 8, or 4 feet 9 inches tall. Under current law in the state, kids must be in car seats until they are 6 or 60 pounds.

The penalty for violating the new law will be a minimum of $479 for a first offense, according to a spokesman for the California Office of Traffic Safety.

The NHTSA recommends booster seats for 8 to 12-year-olds, or until the child can fit properly into a regular seat belt, with the lap belt across the upper thighs, not the stomach, and the shoulder belt across the chest, not the neck.

Parking Lot

Monday, November 28th, 2011

In an attempt to provide the safest parking lot to our families, we ask all parents and drivers to follow the parking lot regulations each and every day.

• Pull into the marked stalls and make sure children walk in the marked safety areas ONLY.

• Children should use the marked safety zone.

• Large SUV’s and other Large vehicles should avoid parking in the front row of stalls. Doing so blocks the sight of parents dropping off, children walking and parking lot monitors.

• Students may be dropped off in front of the Community Center during morning drop off.

Thank you for driving safely in the parking lot and expecting your child to leave the car and walk onto campus safely.

One of the wonderful traditions at St. Anthony’s has been participation in the Odyssey of the Mind competition.  OM is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.
