Dear St. Anthony Families,

As we start on this journey through the new school year together, I want to welcome you back, and in some cases, welcome you for the first time, to Saint Anthony’s School. I look forward to working with you and your children this year!

Every day of the school year we will strive to reinforce the Gospel values of respect, reverence, and responsibility in each student, and in our school community as a whole. The love of Jesus Christ will be experienced in our school community as we come to know, love and serve Christ in each other.

All of us: students, parents, faculty, staff and administration come together, make connections, and form our Saint Anthony’s School community. Within our Catholic school community, our teaching helps us connect our students to God and to strengthen that relationship. By working together collaboratively, we strengthen our connections to each other, and as a faith community, our connection to God.

St. Anthony’s School seeks to provide its students with an excellent education that prepares our children to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. We are now in the Information Age.  To be successful, students entering college need a new set of skills. These 21st century skills of creative and critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration are essential. Current best practices in education allow schools to enhance and enrich their curriculum to meet the educational needs and to insure the future success of all students. Individualizing the curriculum is essential if we want to ensure that every student has the skills needed to meet that goal.

As St. Anthony’s School focuses on being a 21st Century Catholic School we are increasing the use of technology in our classrooms and integrating our curriculum. We are helping our students develop a strong Catholic identity as we prepare them to be successful in a digital global economy and be “…inspired to contribute to society in a way that engenders hope in others………..experience the harmony between faith, life and culture” Pope Benedict XVI

Parental involvement in your children’s education is a vital component to success. A formidable team is created when school and the home work together for the best interests of the students. We look forward to great teamwork this year!

Let us then all accept the challenge to, with the help of Christ, the master teacher, make 2012-2013 a banner year for St. Anthony’s School as a model of excellence in Catholic education. Let’s work together to foster a partnership in support of spiritual development and academic excellence for our students. Ongoing communication is essential. I’m committed to keeping you informed about what is happening in school, and I welcome your thoughts and ideas. Please feel free to contact me at (559) 435-0700 x233 or kcochran@sasfresno.com

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kim Cochran, Principal
