Welcome to a new school year. I would like to take a moment of your time to introduce myself. My name is Kelly Sakugawa and I have been a teacher for the past 14 years. This will be my third year teaching Second grade. I have also been a Catholic’s schools teacher for the past 13 years.
A wonderful learning experience is built upon cooperative effort between parent, child, and teacher. My expectations for classroom conduct and academic growth are high. With your participation in and out of the classroom, we can look forward to a productive, creative, and fun year.
There are three important means of communication. One is your child’s assignment planner which we can communicate in writing. The second is to schedule a conference with me. The third is to email me at school. My email address is ksakugawa@sasfresno.com. I will be contacting you throughout the year about projects, upcoming events, with positive comments about your child and problems if they arise. I will also send home a weekly/monthly newsletter that explains what we are currently working on in class. Your child will also have a parent communication folder (Clear-snap homework folder). I will put all-important papers in this folder and it should be looked at daily. Your child will also use an assignment planner. It will take them a while to get used to it so please be patient. I will help them learn how be organized and diligent about writing their homework down. ?
This Wednesday, our school will have a Back to School Night. That night I will discuss in detail the academic program, goals, objectives, classroom management, and my discipline procedures.
Until then…lets keep the lines of communication open so this year we can work together in a positive successful way. I’m looking forward to working with you and your child.
